Walls Came a-tumbling Down
Style Council
Breakfast
and out to early I explored my old city, the cathedral, the Rows and the Walls.
A chat with a Roman at the amphitheatre, well a bloke in Roman garb for the
tourists, was informative and I loved his enthusiasm as he told a group of
school children stories of Deva, the Roman name for Chester.
I
cycled to Sandbach Flashes for the afternoon birding session. Two Wood
Sandpipers [196] gave views briefly before walking around the bend
in the lake and disappeared.
I phoned a very dear friend from college, Mike 'Roy' Rogers. Whilst at college we had been inseparable for three years but the many years since had seen us both travel far apart and I had only caught up with Mike twice in the last twenty years. Mike answered the phone and his address in Congleton was given. I arrived late in the evening and spent three days with him, reminiscing, talking about our mutual loves, Frank Zappa and the Sixties TV series, The Prisoner and families.
