Theme music to the film Age of Stupid
Many thanks to the team at Radipole & Lodmoor RSPB reserves were given for the welcome and accommodation in the morning. Good luck handshake given to Steve on his move to Geltsdale RSPB Reserve for the Summer. I saw on the wall of the RSPB accommodation that the RSPB had an aim of a 3% carbon cut in 2010. I wonder if they managed it. It reminded me of the 10:10 carbon cut campaign from the Age of Stupid people. If you have not seen that film, Age of Stupid, then get a copy from usual outlets or watch it on YouTube, and watch as Pete Postlethwaite, just before his premature death, tells of the Age of Stupid. The Age of Stupid is a superb and prophetically timely film that all should watch.
A quick look at Ferrybridge once more where sixteen Mediterranean Gulls were on the sands and Portland Harbour, with nine Black-necked Grebes to be seen on the choppy waters, before cycling to Abbotsbury for lunch. Lunch consisted of pate, bananas and hot cross buns, the lunch of champions.
At Lyme Regis later in the day I treated myself with a delicious slab Dorset cake and custard. Indulgent due to my rewarding my efforts in cycling along the very hilly Dorset coastal road. Fourteen beautiful Purple Sandpipers [143] tucked in on the angler cottages wall on the Cobb.
It had been heavy rain most of the way and even some time in the clouds just past Abbotsbury. When I reached the beautiful, if hilly town of Beer I found the Youth Hostel. It reminded me of the youth hostel at Arundel earlier in the month, a large, detached house, beautiful inside within beautiful grounds with many mature trees.
